Location

The Marine, incorporating Marine House, and the ‘Lighthouse' Restaurant’, the independent restaurant and bar situated on our ground floor, is located on the seafront of the quintessential English village of Milford On Sea, between the historic towns of Christchurch and Lymington.

It was born of a vision inspired by the unique location and former elegance of the original 1930's ‘Art Deco' style building which occupied the site. The building was conceived and designed by its current owners, and built in 2010, in a style which sympathetically reflects the architecture of the original building.

The unique, accessible, seafront promenade, to the west of The Marine, provides the opportunity for an enjoyable walk along the non commercialised, unspoilt coastline of Christchurch Bay. The Shingle Bank to the east of the building provides a slightly more challenging walk to Hurst Castle, from where a relaxing ferry trip through the salt marches to the neighbouring Hamlet of Keyhaven, provides a more relaxing leg of the return journey, during the spring and summer seasons.

The spectacular seafront and Sturt Pond Nature Reserve provide plenty of opportunities to enjoy bird watching, fishing, crabbing and for the more energetic Guests, possibly kite surfing and sailing.

Accommodation

The accommodation at Marine House is situated on the first floor and with only four luxury Bedrooms and two luxury Suites, we are able to provide an intimate but, unobtrusive, level of service to our valued Guests.

The owners do not live on the premises, but live only 300m away, so are always on hand should assistance be required.

Marine House Guests can enjoy direct access to our stunning Roof Terrace, where they can enjoy spectacular  sea views of Christchurch Bay, Sturt Pond Nature Reserve, and the landmark 'Needles' on the Isle of Wight.

Please note that access to the roof terrace may be restricted and is available at the discretion of the owner.

Eating and Drinking at The Marine

Since the introduction of the Covid-19 Government guidance, we no longer include breakfast within our offering, however breakfast is still available to our accomodation guests if required, in the ‘Lighthouse Restaurant’ between 9.00am and 10.00am. To book: Click here.

Eating and Drinking at The Marine: Updated Information (effective July 2020 onwards)

As mentioned above, we have had to recently change our operating policy, due to the Government's insistence that Restaurants and Pubs etc can only open if they are able to operate social distancing and manage a system of 'track and trace', whereby they monitor and record details of all visitors to their premises, in order to be able to contact, if necessary, anyone that may have come into contact with an individual with Covid-19 virus.

As we currently sub-let our ground floor Restaurant premises to the independent, 'Lighthouse' Bar and Restaurant, we are unable to control and monitor their Guests movements, within their premises, or monitor their Covid-19 Regulations compliance, and therefore we have had to distance ourselves in this regard from their business.

That is not to suggest that 'The Lighthouse' are in any way not complying with Government guidelines, in fact just the opposite is the case, as the owners, Steve and Hayley, are extremely experienced and well respected Restaurateurs, and have made sure that they have done everything possible to ensure the safety of their Staff and Guests.

As stated previously, in order to ensure compliance with the Regulations, the Restaurant has to take Guest's contact details when accepting a Reservation, and allocate a specific, 'socially distanced' table to them, which will ensure that there can be no instance of over-booking, which would potentially compromise their Covid-19 policies.

With regard to our own Accommodation Guests, the 'in-house' food and beverage facility is still available, and the only real change is that you are required to contact the Restaurant directly to pre-book a table for Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner etc if you wish, and you have to pay the Restaurant directly for any food and beverage ordered. We have changed our prices accordingly.

Hopefully, this will not prove to be too inconvenient, and will serve as a positive indicator as to how seriously and professionally we are endeavouring to ensure the safety of our valued Guests.
